After creative differences delayed the premiere of Season Two of Friday Office Poetry, an outside consultant was hired to smooth out disagreements between creative and management on the podcast.
The conflict was over whether to continue to record Friday Office Poetry at the Fred’s University School of Podcasting studios free of cost or to construct a pricey new recording booth at the Association of Imaginary School’s headquarters.
Trained in group therapy, internet search engine optimization and interior design, the consultant advised School News Today to allow the poetry podcast to move forward but nixed the construction.
The Ideal Luxury Podcast Booth
Creative had spent many billable hours on an extensive Amazon wish list for the proposed new recording booth including New Zealand sheepskin rugs, shearling armchairs and wraparound silk velvet curtains. Despite the trend away from using sound mixing boards, the proposal included a very large board “for retro ambiance.”
“The vibe we were looking for was ‘Cozy Bling’, a hashtag we were also promoting,” noted the Creative Director.
The consultant cited impractical components of the proposal, such as floating pilings and a vacuum seal, in his recommendation to cancel the project. One item that had raised eyebrows was the suite of artisanal lawn furniture in the Amazon cart.
Although podcast booths are inherently indoor structures, the Creative Director explained that studies show going outdoors in nature boosts creativity and well-being. What could be more relevant to an office poetry podcast than the chance to sit outside and reflect?
While backing down on the construction of a new sound studio, the Creative Director negotiated to take home all products that had already been acquired for the new booth including thick velvet goose down cushions, a pendant lamp made of feathers and a copper espresso machine.
“They wouldn’t fit in with the vibe of the Association of Imaginary Schools offices anyway,” argued the Consultant, who also took home a deep pile Flokati area rug. “The offices are more #BeaurocraticBurrow.”
While making expensive site visits to negotiate the end of the sound booth project, the consultant noticed many opportunities to improve the look of the Association of Imaginary School’s offices and is now working on a bold proposal to relocate and reimagine the AIS headquarters.
New Headquarters Vision Board
The Vision Board for the headquarters includes handmade wooden Swedish furniture, live moss green walls, organic beeswax candle chandeliers and bearskin rugs. The Creative Director noted with some annoyance that it also includes all of the Amish-made Adirondack chairs from the original Podcast Studio Amazon wish list.
“You convinced me about the power of nature, if not the podcast booth,” the consultant explained.
Savings on the cost of a new podcast studio were used to pay the majority of the consultant’s fee.
