Supposed Benefits of ChatGPT

We suspect that many of the articles about how students are using artificial intelligence to cheat on homework are written by AI. AI may also be responsible for some of the helpful hints for teachers on how they can use AI to catch kids cheating with AI.

The internet is also brimming with cheerful suggestions for how teachers can use their copious free time to come up with elaborate innovative ways to incorporate AI tools into their lessons.

But the whole point of AI was to make less work, not to create more work for overworked/underpaid teachers.

Here are some of the ways AI can help teachers at Public School Zero:

  1. Automatically reply to repetitive emails from the entitled parent who wants you to give Junior a better grade on the paper AI wrote for them.
  2. Investigate that same entitled parent–who also served as a Public School Zero District Special Consultant.
  3. Document the Special Consultant’s ties to companies he recommended Public School Zero contract with, including AI Services for Schools.
  4. Send a letter to the District showing how the same AI services the Special Consultant was charging for can be used for free.
  5. As an example, use Zapier to program ChatGPT to fill out all the redundant paperwork teachers are asked to file in a week.
  6. Create a catchy video showing how redundant paperwork is a tool to keep teachers from having the time and mental freedom to object to the oppressive conditions of their jobs. Show teachers toiling away surrounded by black mold, asbestos, and lead paint.
  7. File a lawsuit against the Special Consultant for diverting funds put aside for decontaminating the Teacher’s Lounge.
  8. Calculate savings if the District fires the consultant and wins a judgment against him.
  9. Make a plumbing and wiring diagram for the installation of a new professional espresso machine for the Lounge and submit it to the Health Department.
  10. Have the bot gently tell you to know the difference between the things you can change and those you cannot, and suggest soothing breathing exercises for self-care.

Set up the AI to document all the violations of teachers’ rights and report them to the District and see if you can crash their system. Note: Since I built the District’s computer system in unpaid overtime hours, I can assure you it WILL crash.

More suggestions for how teachers can use ChatGPT:
Create a teacher’s union logo.
Do the paperwork to start a union.
Calculate who needs to be bribed in the district to ensure the Union vote will pass.

Use the bot to apply for jobs outside of education where you are given bathroom breaks, are allowed to take sick days if you are at death’s door, and aren’t expected to do overtime for free.
