Disciplinary action was initiated today against a student whose AP American History essay was found to be plagiarized.
In examining the history of the student’s Google document, it was found that his paper had been edited by his mother, his tutor, his older sister, the lacrosse coach, and an anonymous author in India. At no time did the student add any material to the document. The lacrosse coach suggested that the student could not be charged with plagiarism, since the student had not in fact written his own paper.
The committee agreed that it would not be possible to discipline the student until after the lacrosse season is over. In the meantime, disciplinary action will be pursued against the student’s older sister.
