The Reason No One Wants to Work At Public School Zero

The latest trend in professional development allows teachers to acquire NEA Micro-Credentials for targeted skills that are competency-based, research-backed, personalized, and on-demand. These micro-credentials allow teachers to flexibly build and demonstrate their skill base without an entire degree program. Noticing a gap in the market, a group of teachers at Public School Zero are developing a suite of micro-credentials that respond to the specific professional challenges educators may face in the field that are not fully represented in the available offerings.

After completing the Mentoring and Networking credentials, teachers can now get certifications in topics relating to Office Parties including Avoiding Appearing With Your Drunk Boss on Social Media, Dressing “Sexy Enough,” and Potluck Food Poisoning and How It Can Hurt Your Career.

To complement credentials in encouraging parent engagement, Public School Zero offers credentials in dealing with Mean Moms which cover How To Avoid Letting the Mean Mom Be Class Parent, How to Report The Mean Mom Before She Tries To Get You Fired, and Avoiding The Mean Mom in the Parking Lot.

The Butt Pincher micro-credentials should be taken after a complete course in Sexual Harassment in the Workplace. These advanced credentials deal with the Butt Pincher who has already been reported multiple times using the available administrative routes and is protected from disciplinary action due to race, class, or being such a jerk no one dares confront him.  Topics include Internet Research Into Past Offenses on Social Media and Police Records, Warning Other Possible Victims, and Revenge.

The Bathroom Politics module assumes that the teacher or administrator has already been micro-credentialed in the legal questions relating to the gendering of bathrooms in their state.  The module, We Aim to Please, You Aim Too Please, deals with the inter-office politics of Peeing on the Floors, Peeing On The Walls, and Peeing In the Sink, with an advanced credential in Using Bathroom Graffiti To Your Advantage.
