Fred’s University is proud to announce that it has received a substantial gift from a generous donor to endow a new chair at the FU lab currently working on a cure for narcissism.
Recent research has suggested that modern capitalistic cultures nurture narcissism and that narcissism is reaching “epidemic proportions”.
The donor, Donald Bebest, says he wants his alma mater to “crush the competition in the race to cure this devastating disease”. Bebest has made an unusual stipulation to go along with his substantial bequest. The philanthropist has stipulated that the faculty chair be represented by an actual chair, a large gilded piece of furniture, bearing his name, which will be prominently displayed outside the lab.
