A Richard E Rich Academy PTA meeting was called adjourned after tempers flared over the choice of the Senior Night Beach movie, a longstanding fundraiser for the school.  Reviewing the choices, a vocal group of mothers noted that the movies under consideration failed to show either the application of sunscreen before sun exposure, proper etiquette in accepting invitations, college-worthy summer jobs, internships, or test prep.

While this was met with groans from many leathery-skinned moms fresh from the tanning booth, the real conflict broke out when another mother pointed out that none of the movies on the list had any non-white characters, and that two of the movies casually portrayed date rape without consequence.

The majority of mothers and one dad felt that kids should be able to just “have fun” and “enjoy Senior Night” before starting their summer internships without having to worry about “political correctness”, and  “race issues”. Another faction noted that Beach Movie Night was not a lucrative fundraiser and should perhaps be eliminated.

In the end, the matter was decided in a private Committee meeting at Starbucks where it was agreed to restore the Student Senior Slave Auction that had a proven track record as a money-maker. One mom, who had been excluded from the Starbucks meeting, pointed out that Senior Slave Auctions were now considered racist and insensitive and were being canceled at most schools, but the Committee insisted that controversy would only drive sales.
