At long last, the arrival of the 2017 spring musical at SWMHS – “Kiss Me, Kate”. “Kiss Me, Kate” was written by Bella Spewack and Sam Spewack. The musical is an adaptation of  Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew”. In the musical Fred and Lilli, the two divorced Broadway stars, decided to star in “The Taming of the Shrew”. While backstage during the musical the divorcees and other cast members run into many problems. From dealing with mobsters to getting a surprise visit from the general of the U.S.A., the musical left you on the edge of your seat.Throughout the course of their performance of “The Taming of the Shrew” it was hard for Lilli and Fred to stay in character, hence a hilarious performance. Also, the two mobsters who are forced to join the cast of “The Taming of the Shrew” give an entertaining performance as they adapt to being on Broadway.  The musical debuted on March 24 and continued onto the 25 with a matinee and evening showing. The cast was absolutely spectacular. Everyone in the musical is extremely talented. The dance scenes were outstanding and the leads have amazing voices! Their performance made you feel like you were back in the 1950s with them. The crews beautifully pulled you into this universe with their outstanding props, set, and backdrop. When leaving the theater you were left with a smile on your face and the catchy chorus from the opening number (Another Op’nin, Another Show). Congratulations on behalf of Echo Lites to the cast and crew for a successful spring musical!
