The Problem With Rich Kids
Privileged children can be burdened with the demand that they excel and distinguish themselves in order to be loved and appreciated. Children from affluent families have surprisingly high rates of depression and anxiety.
A recent article in School News Today, “Rich White Students Crushed by Needing to Prove They Are Special,” drew attention to this issue. Since the article came out, there has been a demand for classroom materials that could address this problem.
School News Today has commissioned an online flipbook as part of their Educational Cat Video series to help show children there is beauty in being part of the whole.
In this book, students learn you don’t have to shine to be loved.
The book was written by reclusive School News Today Poet In Residence Ticky Kennedy and is offered free to our readers as a flipbook. In keeping with the message of the project, the artwork is not original but consists of collages made from AI-generated images. (Does SchoolNewsToday still retain the copyright? Yes, because the images have been altered and reconfigured. That is the subject of a future article.)
Stay tuned for the soon-to-be-released paperback version, on sale this summer.
