Your Cat Socrates
For your cat sitter
You want a teacher
Maybe tabby will master
Multiplication or how
To open doors for dogs
You leave a note for
Me to read to Socrates
And smoked salmon
For his lunch and dinner
He likes his water cold
It’s not how you imagine
He looks dark down
Into my human eye
Hating me to the death
And scratches for blood
I serve myself the salmon
You left for him and
Socrates sits watching me
He tells me all about you
But I refuse to listen

If a “cat is a rescue and you’re having trouble bonding, there might be something from their past getting in the way. They could have had a bad experience with a person of your same gender, height, age, or hair color. You could do everything right, but it’ll be hard to separate you from the untrustworthy person in their past.”– Why Do Cats Like Some Humans and Not Others?
“Approximately 14% of teachers reported incidents of physical violence from a student.”–Teachers, Other School Personnel, Experience Violence, Threats, The American Psychological Association.
